New Arrival

Meet 'Bella'!
Isn't she beautiful? Yes, we finally have our new car..and she was home before Christmas which was our best present (to ourselves) ever!

After some initial registration mix up at the dealership we were given a later date of collection than first expected..the 23rd December. Although we were disappointed, being so eager to get our hands on our first ever car we knew it would be worth the wait.

Imagine our surprise when we woke up on the morning of the 23rd to see 5 inches of snow! This was not the best start to a day when we were to travel 40 miles to collect our new vehicle. We called taxis to get to the train station but many of them were not operating early morning due to the weather conditions. Then we had a phone call from the garage to say our salesman was stuck in traffic and would not be at work in time for our appointment. If we didn't collect the car that day we wouldn't have it in time for Christmas ruining all our arrangements...very frustrating (that's putting it mildly!).

We eventually got a taxi to the station...only to find after we had bought our tickets the train was delayed by 30 mins. It was quite a chilly half hour on that platform it has to be said.
Arriving at our destination we met with our salesman (who had too eventually made it in!).

Within 20 mins the Mister was in the driving seat of our lovely new Citreon C3 Picasso and on the motorway back to the homeland. Luckily it was now afternoon and all the morning chaos on the roads causes by the snow, was over.

We were just glad to get our blue baby home and safe. Christmas plans went ahead as arranged and it has been great just to get out and about whenever and wherever we want.

We hope 2010 is going to be a good year thanks to Bella.

Post Christmas Post

I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GREAT CHRISTMAS!!
The photo shows our attempt at being festive. I can't believe it's the 27th and our decorations are still in place. The Mister usually starts dismantling them gradually on Boxing Day. Everything in our house has to be dogproof..hence the tabletop tree. It's decorated with little knitted stockings I did last year. Even our wall art has had the Christmas treatment..looks kinda sweet don't you think?
We had a nice smoothly run Christmas..you can't ask for better than that. No last minute change of plans, no family members playing the 'awkward card', no incidents or accidents. That to me is almost blissful and I'm very grateful.
Of course I was also blessed with an abundance of great gifts..which helps..haha!
We have a lot to be thankful for ..our best gift (the one to ourselves) will be revealed tomorrow!

Snow & Sockies

Yesterday saw the first of this winters snowfall here in Fife. It didn't take long for my two cheeky rascals to dash outside for a muck around. Patch got very excited by the snow but after 5 minutes running around he sensibly retreated indoors to the warmth. The pooch is getting older and likes his home comforts far too much.

I haven't blogged since the beginning of the month when my Mister passed his driving test. There are at least two reasons for my blogging absence.

Reason 1: we have been car shopping and have chosen our broom broom (sadly it's delivery is taking longer than we'ed initially anticipated!).

Reason 2: I have been beavering away trying to complete my Xmas knitting.

Thankfully my brothers Fiance's Christmas socks were completed last night before they arrived today to exchange gifts..phew!

Here they are (right)

An unusal colourway perhaps but she seemed very pleased with the result as did my little bro with the pair I'd knitted for him.

The yarn used for both pairs was from Lidl and used about 75g per pair which worked out at less than £2 a pair.

Here's hoping they wash well. I attached some labels with washing instructions on the back.

On The Road?...Soon

Yesterday the Mister passed his driving test..I'm so proud of him. Admittedly he's taken up driving a little later in life at the ripe old age of 37 but after only 2 months of lessons he's got his licence. Well done Gavin..YOU DID IT!!!!

Now we are looking into getting our own car and having some on-road adventures. To be honest it should also make simple things like trips to the supermarket so much easier (at the moment Gavin makes that trip in all weathers and loads himself up like a pack horse).

So, not too many more trips on buses on the horizon..hooray! Many of the towns bus routes have been cut and others are far too overcrowded. We will however try to make sure the car we eventually get will be fuel efficient with low carbon emissions.

December Already?

It's December already..2 days in infact..crikey. I don't have a advent calendar this year for me to keep track of the countdown til Christmas. No mum, I'm not having a sulk at you for your lack of chocolate filled calendar buying! I have just accepted that at 34 I am perhaps getting a little mature in years for such things. The Mister was more concerned that the supermarket was out of stock of the doggie-treat advent calendars for Patchie Boy (and he says I pamper that pooch, tsk!)

Well, I didn't manage to complete NaBloPoMo this time around having only written 24 posts throughout November (you had to write 30 posts in 30 days) but I'm not too bothered. I will endevour to choose a month in 2010 and do it then (just to appease myself).

December started with a pleasant surprise as I made Letter of The Month in the latest issue of Simply Knitting magazine. It's the first time I've written in so was a complete shock to get printed. My letter was about the Pudsey bear I'd knitted (and a photo) from a pattern printed in their previous issue. I have won £30 of vouchers for online shop Serenity Knitting. As you can imagine I am chuffed to bits.
